When did you become interested in construction?
From as far back as I can remember, I have always been interested in construction and fascinated by how building systems go together. I took many classes in high school for drafting, design/art and I studied architecture in college which only heightened my interest.
What is your favorite aspect of the construction industry?
It is always changing. We are constantly trying to find ways to build buildings faster and smarter.
What projects are you currently working on?
I am currently working on a three-building, approximately 48-acre site in Franklin Park, Illinois and a 186,616-square-foot build-to-suit warehouse in Linconshire, Illinois. We just recently completed the demolition and reconfiguration of 400 Wolf in Northlake, Illinois.
Tell me more about 400 Wolf.
We took an existing building that was over one million square feet and demolished almost a half million square feet to turn the building into a single tenant facility. We then took the land to the south and built a 400,000-square-foot building pad for future construction. This was all accomplished while Dr Pepper maintained full operations of their existing facility. The project was split into two phases, which required a tremendous amount of planning, coordination and constant communication between Centerpoint Properties, Dr Pepper Snapple Group and PREMIER.
What type of projects pique your interest?
Every day there is a new problem to solve and no matter how complex, there is always a solution. Even if projects are similar, the challenges are always different: different site, subcontractors, owners, municipalities, etc. Just because a solution was used on one project, it will not necessarily translate to the next.
What do you like most about your job?
The people we work with. PREMIER's field staff is fantastic, our subcontractors are great and the resources we have in the office are beyond compare. I enjoy working with everyone in order to accomplish a common goal.
What do you do outside the office?
Outside of the office, you will find me spending time with the people I care about the most. I love hanging out at the pool by my aunt and uncle's, having a bonfire with our friends and going to the movies and on trips with my husband.
What is your favorite place you have traveled to?
Kauai, Hawaii. My husband and I went there almost five years ago and it was absolute paradise. The atmosphere was so laid back and the views were picturesque. We had the time of our lives. We kayaked, zip lined, hiked, went on a helicopter tour, went tubing in a sugar plantation and went on an ATV off road tour. I cannot wait to plan another trip back!
